A Swift April!

James is being sweet and giving me the gift of time on this Mother's Day so I'm catching up here, and posting pictures for my Mom and Mother in Law :) April was busy and went by far too quickly. Charlotte turned 12 and wanted to have a party with some friends from school. James took them to an escape room and somehow these giggly tweens made it out with a minute to spare.

James took this picture at a ward picnic. It represents my experience at church every week perfectly :)

Wesley also had a birthday. He asked to not have a party with friends, bless his heart. He did get a new friend as a gift though. Bearded dragons, it turns out, are excellent pets for six-year-olds.

The kids had a week off of school for fall break, although I swear it was spring break. James took some time off work and took all the older kids on an overnight trip to an area called Entre Rios. I stayed home with Ian and listened to the blessed Sound of Silence.

They saw these capybaras while they were up there. We've been excited to see these guys since we knew we were moving to Argentina. Jack almost touched one....and also almost got yelled at by some other capy admirers. James ushered everyone into the car and took off before they could give their lecture.

We took Ian to register as an Argentine resident and get his DNI, which is somewhat similar to a social security number. He's the only one in the family who has one now...which gives him lots of privilege. Looks like he doesn't appreciate his privilege though.

Our dear friends the Andersons made sure we didn't miss out on a good Easter egg hunt and hosted us for the most prolific hunt we've ever had and a delicious dinner. They are the best.

Sweet Imogen stuck a Lego shark tooth into her ear and while she tried to get it out herself she jammed it far enough in that we had to take her to a surgeon to remove it. And now she'll never do that again. We hope.

We took ourselves on a little walking tour downtown and saw the capital building, the Obelisk, and Casa Rosada again.

These people were representing the indigenous people of Argentina, and harmonize very well.

Our sweet Ian was blessed in church on May 1. And this is the only picture I took!

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Some random pictures found around Argentina:

Not the only product stocked like this....

This bee thing was positively enormous. I wish I had put my had next to it for comparison.

Argentina's coat of arms. Although it looks a little silly to our modern eye, the cap represents liberty and freedom and sits on a pike the represents the willingness to defend freedom.

These hibiscus are at Imogen's preschool. I just love them, and they bloom forever!

Comments

  1. Don't let Charlotte watch "No escape room" on Netflix. It's scary!

  2. Thank you for capturing some of the highlights in your adventure! In some pictures Ian looks like Wesley.
