The Month of March

First off, a bunch of baby pictures:

Introducing Ian to our friend Cesar

He really is smiling now! Not just in his sleep :)

All my babies to compare. We don't stray too far from the mold. Starting at top left: Ian, Charlotte, Imogen, Wesley, Jack.

I got really adventurous last weekend and Ian and I joined everyone on a river/campo/asado day trip. We took a water taxi out to the delta where we could ride horses, paddle along the river, zip-line, and have lunch made for us.

View of a gorgeous art museum along the water taxi route

Where we spent the day

Working on his teenage angst

Special blanket from his great-grandmother who is part of the original Argentina saga

Zip-line pro. I was shocked she did it, but she loved it!

Argentine asado, with a smorgasbord of meat--steak, chicken, chorizo, tripe, blood sausage

Our air shipment finally came and Imogen represents us all in enthusiasm. Our sea shipment will probably come in another 2+ months.

Nana celebrated her birthday with us while she was here. We've discovered you can buy amazing cakes here for a great price, and we've been leaning into that. We have had so much fun with grandparents here, and they have helped us so much. Not just in taking care of the kids and the house, but in continuing our transition to life in Argentina and working through the daily speedbumps we encounter.

Grant and Susan left on Tuesday and we miss them dearly. We are so grateful to them and feel so lucky to have such wonderful parents/grandparents!!

  1. We had a wonderful time in Argentina with the James and Natalie Pace family! It was a great adventure to be back in a land we feel so connected to, with family we love so much. My parents had just moved to Buenos Aires when I was born there so I thought a lot about how it must have been for my mother. I am so impressed with Natalie as I've watched her go through setting up house in a foreign country, dealing with workmen, house help, getting the kids settled in school, pregnancy, having a newborn baby, shopping in a new city, adjusting to not having the grocery options we are used to in the US, driving in a busy foreign city with all but the main roads being one way streets, and so many other challenges that take time to research and figure out in a new city, and so much more complicated in a new country. Fortunately, Natalie's Spanish is very good! She understands practically everything, and speaks very well. James took off some paternity leave so we were able to spend more time with him than we would otherwise. He has done a great job in setting up his family in a beautiful home, close to school, and being a very involved father. We were impressed with James Spanish ability in all his interactions with people. We are also impressed with both James and Natalie's reliance on the Lord. As problems come they openly trust in the Lord with a strong sense that He has brought them there; and day to day and week to week problems resolve themselves.
All the kids like their friends at school and their teachers. Even Imogen goes happily to preschool. We felt very wanted, needed, loved - and we had a great time! We are proud of each of you! We love you! We miss you all so much!!

  2. Thanks for sharing Natalie! You are troopers for all of the challenges you have faced in the past 4 months. We are so excited that you now have baby Ian. He is a cutie and we can't wait to see him someday. Despite all of the challenges it looks like you are holding it all together and are still able to get out. We are glad Grant and Susan were able to visit. We love you, wish you the best, and look forward to more good news!
