Help has arrived!


We have our Nana here! She arrived Tuesday morning. It's so nice to have her help and calming presence in our home. Grandpa is due to arrive in two days and then baby boy is welcome to come any time. Hopefully sooner rather than later. 

Dropping Imogen off at preschool

The kids have spent a lot of time in the pool and this little lady is now putting her head under water and swimming a decent distance on her own. If she's not at school, she's usually in her swimsuit. 

Paula, a sweet primary leader in our ward offered to teach the kids to crochet (Jack's dream). Wesley was a bit jealous so I worked on finger knitting with him :) 

We had been told by a few people that there was a decent little zoo near downtown with lots of great animals (white tiger, rhino, hippos...) so we tried it out yesterday. I'm not exactly sure what was going on, but everything was boarded up and this was about as good as it got: 

We saw the head of a giraffe behind the closed-off areas, so we're pretty sure the animals were there, but it mostly ended up being a long walk that failed to induce labor. 

It was strange because there were lots of people there, just very little to see. Flamingos are always fun tough. Jack's expression is telling in this picture.

Later, we visited El Ateneo, an opera house downtown that has been converted into a bookstore.

    You have two nice dogs now! The book store in the opera house is....weird. I hope the baby comes soon.

After far too many attempts to sit down and explain what has happened to us in the past six months, I'll spare my loved ones the bore and mostly just post pictures. The long and short of it is that James transferred down to Buenos Aires with Microsoft for two (maybe three) years. We moved just after Christmas and are expecting baby #5 the end of February. We've used the word "crazy" a lot recently.  Trying to leave Washington was a bit of a struggle. This was the day we learned someone in my family had COVID thus canceling any Christmas plans to get together with family before we took off :( Also any help I was going to get from them....sigh... The day after Christmas it snowed, putting a wrench in the packing plans. Movers were supposed to come pack us up, but they were told not to come to work to avoid bad roads. Our renters were moving in that week and were as accommodating as they could be, but we ended up moving out as they were moving in. It was a wild few day

How the Cards Have Fallen

 Before anything else, I just want to remind everyone I'm due to have a baby in 17 days.  James' grandfather has always encouraged us to get a dog to protect our family. I've been told that at one point their family was living in Central America and someone was stealing laundry from their back yard. They got a German Shephard and fixed the problem. Living in Duvall, we never lived in fear of intrusion. It has frequently been rated the #1 safest city in Washington, so no dog for us. I'm not really a dog person anyway. Other people's dogs are fine, but I have zero interest in taking care of a dog. Especially in light of above mentioned status.  A few weeks ago, James and I were up late working on incredibly boring stuff when he gets a call from the neighbor next door. January Photo Update

We've almost made it a whole month living in Argentina. January has been full of learning, trying, trying again, and really loving where we are. The kids start school this Wednesday and we are excited to really dig into this new life.  This is Rio de la Plata. We can walk to it in less than five minutes from our house. We have some really incredible views from the house out to the river that I hope we never get used to. There are almost always sailboats out there, and frequently a cargo ship. The river is pretty brown, despite being named "the river of silver" and it has a smell that will keep my kids out of it, but it's a pretty place to walk to and has nice trails and parks along this stretch.  This was a different day we went down to the river.
